A 2026 memorial release marking the very first vinyl pressing of the soundtracks to two classic PEANUTS TV specials scored by Vince Guaraldi: "It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown" (1976) and "Charlie Brown's All Stars!" (1966).

"Charlie Brown's All Stars!" originally aired the year after the phenomenally successful Christmas special, "A Charlie Brown Christmas", whose soundtrack became a massive hit. Moving away from the tranquil piano trio setup of the previous work, Guaraldi expanded the band into a rich sextet (a six-piece line-up) featuring horns and guitar. This newly enriched sonic environment allowed the lead instruments to delve into freakier phrasing, shifting his sound into authentic, sophisticated West Coast jazz.

A decade later came "It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown", where Guaraldi introduced the electric piano and an analogue synthesiser by ARP. Evoking the moody textures of ambient and 70s library music, the album delivers a dreamlike, retro-futuristic selection of chill tracks. Tragically, just a few hours after completing the final recording sessions for this special, Guaraldi passed away suddenly that night at the age of 47. Consequently, this beautiful work became his bittersweet final masterpiece.

Though consisting of short incidental cues and soundtrack sketches, this charming collection beautifully condenses Guaraldi's magical sense of jazz swing and sonic experimentation into compact, endearing vignettes. It is an absolute treasure for fans of both Vince Guaraldi and the PEANUTS series.

In keeping with the "Arbor Day" theme, this eco-friendly release is pressed on biomass vinyl derived from recycled materials, housed in a sleeve made from paper sourced from sustainable forests, and wrapped in a compostable PLA bag.
