This is a legendary self-released album by Danish trombonist Torolf Mølgaard, released in 1972. It was reissued in 2014 by the Italian label seriE.WOC (limited to 250 copies worldwide).

In 1972, when mainstream jazz was rapidly becoming electrified, Denmark was the last bastion and refuge for acoustic jazz players.

This work was born from this background, and Kenny Drew, Sahib Shihab, and others participated in the composition and arrangement.
The soft and warm sound unique to a one-horn trombone quartet is supported by the powerful playing of up-and-coming bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, and even in the passionate hard bop-like performance, lyrical melodies typical of Scandinavia occasionally peek out.

Combined with the fact that it was originally produced as a novelty item for the Danish mid-century furniture brand Digsmed, it is also attractive in that it evokes the organic warmth of wood and modern design of Scandinavian furniture.
This is a hidden gem of high-quality Danish jazz.
