The New Stan Getz Quartet featuring Astrud Gilberto - Getz Au Go Go [used]

In 1964, immediately after the release of "Getz/Gilberto," when the bossa nova boom was at its peak in the US, this historic document captures Stan Getz's performance at New York's "Cafe Au Go Go," featuring Astrud Gilberto as a guest.

The album features a nearly even split between Astrud's vocal tracks and instrumental pieces by Getz's quartet. It allows listeners to experience a hybrid of the pop and sophisticated jazzy bossa nova world pioneered by "Getz/Gilberto" and Getz's inherent lyrical West Coast jazz style. Gary Burton (vibraphone) joins the quartet, and Kenny Burrell (guitar) participates in the vocal tracks. The dense monaural sound evokes the raw atmosphere of 1964.
