While fundamentally characterized by delicate vocals and a minimalist, tranquil soundscape featuring acoustic guitar and banjo accompaniment, the album occasionally showcases grand and chaotic developments with choir-like harmonies provided by members of Danielson Famile.
Although every song features motifs related to the Bible and Christianity, through them, Stevens attempts to depict moral struggles that anyone can relate to, as well as the fragility and imperfection of the human heart. The sounds produced after such contemplation are sincere and powerful.

Pencil drawings by his elder brother, Marzuki Stevens, are featured as the album's artwork.
