This historic album was recorded in 1958 by French musician Michel Legrand, who gathered together up-and-coming jazz musicians during his trip to the United States.
Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Phil Woods, Paul Chambers and others participated. Legrand is in charge of song selection, arrangement, and conducting, and brings together the performance of a big band featuring unique players in an elegant and smart manner. Although Miles' name is included in the artist name, he actually participated in only 5 of the 12 songs, including the bonus track.
