Gus Van Sant - PAINTINGS [NEW]

This is the first monograph (specialized art book) collecting the paintings of Gus Van Sant, known for numerous film directorial works such as "Good Will Hunting" and "My Own Private Idaho."

The 93 works included are a collection of his so-called "B-side" expressive activities, which he has quietly continued to create over many years alongside his film directing.
It is an impressive book featuring portraits of young people, reminiscent of characters in his films, who possess a sense of loneliness and alienation, as well as fresh yet precarious visual expressions from the pre-completion stage of his films.

The "inside-out" binding is also impactful, intentionally exposing elements that would normally be hidden on the back of hardcover bindings, such as the fabric folds and the mull supporting the spine, and applying test silkscreen prints directly onto the core board. This tells us that the book itself is a work of art.
