One day, Mazur, a black cat who dances to Chopin, and Nono, a girl with distant eyes, suddenly disappear. This marks the beginning of quiet days "like the hole in a donut" for the man Eiji and his pet cat Koishi, who are left behind.
Starting with the transparent poeticism of Chuya Nakahara's "A Little Fairy Tale," and with Frédéric Chopin's mazurkas tracing loss and memory, this is a serene fantasy painted in blue and black.
Songs by the Stones, Dylan, Nina Simone, and Yuko Ikema also appear in the story, adding a real-life texture to the fleeting and hazy imagery.
