101 Strings – I Love Paris [used]

An easy-listening collection of Parisian-themed music, a project by American producer David L. Miller.

This is a concept album that selects Parisian-themed songs from various genres, primarily chansons and traditional French songs. It combines a sound featuring literally over 100 string instruments with the most advanced stereo technology of the time, acoustically rendering the "romantic Paris" image that American listeners envision in an easily understandable way.

A little story about this record

Based on our examination of the matrix (the identification code etched into the silent parts), we estimate that this record was likely pressed in the mid-1960s.

David L. Miller, the producer of 101 Strings, was also the owner of the record company "Miller International."
He adopted a strategy of producing inexpensive records using European orchestras, distributing them through dedicated racks in American supermarkets and drugstores, and selling them in large quantities to general consumers as low-priced items (known as "budget records").

The shrink wrap on this record still bears a price tag sticker from "Alexander's," a discount department store chain that once existed in the New York area (99 cents!?).
This small pink price tag sticker tells the raw history of this record, which reached people's hands as a budget album.
