The Pastels' 5th album, released in 2013, is their first release in about 16 years since their 1997 album "ILLUMINATION." Co-produced by John McEntire (The Sea and Cake, Tortoise, etc.), the album was recorded in Glasgow and mixed in Chicago, and the sound of the album is a deliberate attempt to maintain the "looseness" of The Pastels' style. While following the original style, the finished product seems to have been elevated to its own unique sound and groove. Katrina and Stephen's rough singing and playing only highlight the band's unchanging pure sensibility. In addition to fellow Glasgow musicians such as Bill Wells, Gerard Love and Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub, and Tom Crossley of International Airport, Tenniscoats and Takuji Aoyagi from Japan also take part. Original member 'Aggi' Annabel Wright is responsible for the cover art.
