Birdie is a duo formed by Debsey Wykes (ex. Dolly Mixture) and Paul Kelly (ex. East Village) who met as touring members of Saint Etienne and eventually became partners.
This is a remastered/vinyl reissue of the first album released in 1999.
The melancholic melodies in the style of Margo Gharyan and Laura Nyro, and the natural approach of 90s indie pop are pleasant to the ears, creating a calm, warm mood throughout the album.
Sean O'Hagan (The High Llamas) participates in string arrangements.
