Finding the place where the stars sleep

It is difficult to convey the charm of this picture book through my photographs and words.
This white picture book, which is woven with simple words on the theme of "stars," is expressed using a variety of papers and inks, as well as die-cutting and foil stamping, and is like an attractive sample book of printing. But that is only the surface of this book.

Even though they are all white, they can be cold or warm, and each has its own unique character. They can also be dry, moist, or smooth, and they come in a variety of textures and shapes.
Even though there are pages that are not white, what remains in your mind after reading this book is a sparkling light and a pure white world.

This picture book was created by bookbinding artist and designer Katsumi Komagata at the request of the city of Grenoble, France, to celebrate the birth of a new baby.
The existence of the three languages ​​- Japanese, English, and French - and non-verbal expressions stimulates the innocent parts of the sensibilities that remain in the adult who was once a baby.

Pick up the paintbrush of your imagination and let it take flight. It's like opening a new sketchbook, and letting your imagination soar.

White is filled with the feeling of beginnings.
May your soft sensibilities and the dreams you have while wrapped in white baby clothes be peaceful and beautiful, watched over by the abundance of this world.
This is what we hope for on the winter solstice of 2023.
