Choo Choo Train is an indie rock band from Chicago, also known as the predecessor of Velvet Crush. A six-song EP released in 1988 by the British label The Subway Organization.
The innocent indie feel of the 80's British C86/anorak movement resonates with the dry, open sound quality typical of an American band. As the 90's approached, the American and British indie scenes were in a transitional period, shifting towards heavier sounds, and this is a fresh collection of their early works that is unique to them, having found their own unique position in the middle. I am. The title track A1 was written by Matthew Sweet, with whom he remained close friends even during his Velvet Crush days.
