This is a 1958 work recorded by French musician Michel Legrand, who gathered up-and-coming jazz musicians during his trip to America.
Featuring Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Phil Woods, and Paul Chambers, Legrand is in charge of song selection, arrangement, and conducting, bringing together the performance of a big band full of unique players in an elegant and smart way.
Although this reissue has Miles' name in the title, he only participates in five of the twelve tracks (A1-4, A6). A longer version of 'Round Midnight (A6) is included as a bonus track, and the track order and jacket design have been completely redesigned.
