A short story written by Paul Auster for the New York Times in 1990 and later used as the basis for the movie ``Smoke'', translated by Motoyuki Shibata and illustrated by Jun Tada, turned into a picture book. A cigar store owner who lives in Brooklyn, New York, tells the author the world of an unusual Christmas story that is like an elaborate cynical joke, yet somehow gives you a warm feeling, along with visual images. This is an enjoyable book.
