[WALLFLOWER CATALOGUE] FILE 009. ERLEND OYE & LA COMITIVA - LA COMITIVA
A festive atmosphere with friends
The longest day of the year, the summer solstice.
Here in Japan, we are often in the middle of the rainy season, so there isn't much light, and for some it is a day to light candles, while for others it may just be a day that passes without a trace.
Ever since I was old enough to understand, a year for me is half a year that marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the summer solstice. The winter solstice, which I look forward to more than New Year's Day or Christmas, is my greatest hope in the middle of winter, as the sunlight regains its strength. On the other hand, the summer solstice is a day of shining celebration, but it somehow makes me feel melancholic. For me, who spent my first 18 years in a snowy country, the summer solstice is like an old door that reminds me of the harshness of winter that will come again.
However, for some people in the Northern Hemisphere, where winters are darker and longer than in Japan, the summer solstice, which comes around the time of the midnight sun, is a festival day where people celebrate with dancing and music played all night long in the streets. Let's forget about our sentimental feelings and celebrate together.
If I were to play some music, I would recommend "La Comitiva" by Erland Oye of Kings Of Convenience and his friends, released in May. The South American rhythms are refreshingly refreshing with the same relaxed singing and playing as always.
The colorful illustrations, reminiscent of Mexican folk art, depict the sky, the sea, flowers, birds, cats, and giraffes. There are delicious fruits, cakes, and alcohol, as well as friendly musical friends. All the things we love are gathered together.
When I display this jacket, it will connect my room to their party outside my window.
Because there are sad times, happy events make the joy of life even more vivid.
I want to celebrate each day, with its light and darkness, its good and bad, with a bouquet of music.
