Dieter Rams was one of the most influential industrial designers of the 20th century, and had a major influence on such designers as Jonathan Ive and Jasper Morrison. Created under the design philosophy of "Less but Better", electrical appliances such as record players, portable radios, shavers, clocks, and calculators are loved by people all over the world for their beautiful appearance, which is achieved by stripping away unnecessary elements to the bare minimum, resulting in solid functionality. This book looks back on Rams' career spanning more than 60 years and chronologically introduces every product he designed, in the style of a catalogue raisonné, with over 300 color illustrations and detailed descriptions of each product.
